This is an actual scene from the story. Sadly it would be full of spoilers to explain what's going on but I hope you still get the basic feeling at least, even without words.
I inked this old comic page for an exhibition where I can display 4 of my comic pages.
Hm, not sure if I can call it full success, I think I like the bg a bit more on the pencil version but overall I'm happy enough with it. I was a bit nervous if I can get the same feeling with the ink. Then again ink and pencil ALWAYS will be different, haha. I will surely experiment more on how can I translate this type of pencilwork into ink the best.And I'm happy because I made good progress in the past few days on the 2 projects I'm working on so I most likely can keep the deadlines. ^o^
Thank you! Oh I do the western way. Back then when I made fan-comics based on mangas I used to do the Asian way out of custom. But I realized it's no reason to do that for an European so I went back. ^^' However it was interesting to read it now the other way, haha. I just can't decide if it makes difference, uhm... Sometimes I'm anoyed with myself because my analitic skills are not very good. But I'm working on it XD
Uhm well, I don't know the story, so both ways were believable to me. Eastern way it I would have read it as a dialogue, faster, because of two switches between characters. But I am happy it was western, because it has a slower rythm and it's classy the way you zoom on both characters.
Ah, that's right... Now I do see the difference with the pace AND even the shots, like it "flows smoothly" in the western way but "gets unterrupted" in a way on the eastern way. Hm, I guess I should do this practice: to "read" some comics in both ways and tell the difference. o.o I still only go by pure instincts and don't actually know a lot. I guess not even the basics. o_o;
I suppose page composition is based on intuitive stuff, so...I suppose one can master it well even not knowing any theory - you are the prove that is possible! ; )
Just out of curiosity, is it supposed to be read in the western or in the eastern reading sense?
Either way, very classy.
