First of all, my gallery is quite a fresh one - one year old. So it wasn't much space for me to show off too much, hehe.
What I wished to accomplish anyway? To show that I became better in composition, choosing perspective and angles, placing my characters and displaying action and dynamism. I know it's less "pretty" in a way, but I didn't aim for polished art for this scene.
I also wanted to use the same media, same style - I think it is just fair.
EDIT Woah, I've got in the semi-finals - totally surprised! *__* Especially because I do realize - as I've said - my 2nd pict is less refined and pretty. This makes me EXTRA happy that people still could see my point and that are more in a pict than being shiney and polished. I have to admit, I was even a bit disapointed that many picts I liked didn't make it in there. Too bad. = ( I had interesting conversations with people because of this contest about art, improvement and how people think so many times, using digital tools over traditional is an improvement on its own, or changing style (like from simplified to realistic) is as well. When it is really not. And how very often the "after" images still doesn't show improvement on basic art skills like anatomy, lighting, composition ect. Anyway, I was happy to talk to these people and share these views, it was really refreshing! I wanted to do this meme for ages already but I'm glad for this contest to finally kicked me to do so.
I'm really shocked and surprised you didn't get into the top ten. I believe you should have to be honest. I think there is a great difference, Such as your piece re done gives the feeling of more flow and movement in my own opinion. I love both pieces and you have a really nice unique style Keep up the amazing work.
Aw, haha thank you for your flattering words! ^///^ But, nah, I'm honestly happy already to get into the semi-finals, it was such a pleasent surprise. Not because I didn't think it was that good, I do think I made a good, visible progress, but because the 2nd one is less pretty-looking, I expected people to overlook other aspects. So I was happy that many recognized that! :3 Thank you again, I will do my best!
The first piece does look pretty but it also looks stiff. The second piece looks looks more like it's actually moving and there's more emotion into it. I really think you should win this =]
Thank you veyr much, 'Im glad you see it - and yes, YES, I think too, that I captured their wildness with the 2nd more, I'm glad you pointed it out! Awww, haha it's really nice of you saying that, but I don't think I should win, I think the finalyst one should be still more... how to say "through-out" with it. My pict only shows one aspect: composition. Not that it is a little thing but I think finalists should be someone who gives a strikingly big change as a whole or sth. I'm already glad I got in the semi-finals - especially because I could talk to so many interesting people this way!
I see why, it is more "pretty" with the brush strokes. But as action scene I don't think it is that effective and THAT was my purpose this time. But, of course, you could be on different opinion about that as well, haha.
Congratulations on being a semi-finalist; I'm glad you were chosen. I like both of the two pieces, but there is no denying the improvement. I adore your style.
Haha, yeah i can't deny that. But I didn't want this pict to be pretty, but to be a good, effective action scene and I belive for that purpose the 2nd piece works better. However my ultimate goal is to combine the two: make it somewhat "prettier" and make it dynamic as well.
